    We just had the rehearsal dinner here for my son and daughter-in-law. Ammar and his team met and exceeded our expectations! We had the side room, which accommodates up to 40 people I believe. He allowed me to come in early and set up a few special decorations that I had. The food was fantastic. He had told my husband and I that he would start with appetizers and keep bringing them and the main course until people couldn't move, and he delivered! We had the Pear and Gorgonzola salad, eggplant rollatini, brushetta, chicken fancese, napolitana pizza, pasta with pink sauce and stuffed haddock with rice. For desert, we had tiramisu, and cannoli Everything was delicious! We have been going there as a family for years and we have never been disappointed! We've also hosted a holiday business party here. Highly recommend.

    My husband and I tried La Florentina last weekend. I have heard great things and read the Yelp reviews. We were warmly greeted and chose a corner booth. Our server was so nice and made us feel right at home. We ordered the Stuffed Clam appetizer to share. I got the Chicken Frances and my husband ordered the Mixed Seafood Fra Diavlo with clams, shrimp and scallops. We were served Puff Bread after about 10 minutes. It was fantastic! Baked in the wood fired oven and brushed with olive oil and garlic. Worth the trip alone. It looks like a calzone but it is hollow! Next came our Stuffed Clams. It was 4 good sized shells served with a side of homemade tomato sauce. The clams were tasty but the actual presence of clams was scant. The addition of the tomato sauce was great to dip the Puff bread in. After a bit my Chicken Francese was brought out. Our server explained my husbands dinner was accidentally taken by another server and they were making him a new dinner right away. Things like this happen. We rolled with it. Unfortunately by the time my husbands dinner arrived I was done eating. My Chicken Francese was very good. I asked for it served with Angel Hair pasta. (You choose which pasts you want) However, the pasta was really overcooked. I didn't say anything because I was hungry and the chicken was really good. Finally my husbands Mixed Seafood Fra Diavlo arrived. As you can see in the picture the scallops are so small I don't think they can even be called scallops. I have bought Bay Scallops that were huge compared to these. The shrimp were very good and again not many clams. He said the sauce was very good though. All in all it was a tasty meal just not good enough to go back for. I will order a pizza or calzone to go though. They all looked really good coming out of the oven.

    Excellent and affordable Italian in an unassuming spot. I am constantly looking for good, wood-fired, thin-crust pizza and upon discovering La Florentina I had to give it a try. The pizzas are delicious with that smoky crust that only wood-firing can provide. There are a number of styles one can choose from or just make your own from a list of ingredients. We washed everything down with a carafe of serviceable Chianti, an outstanding value for only $21. Service was attentive and efficient and overall prices were very good for large portions.

    La Florentona has been one of my favorite eateries for over a decade. Every dish I've ever had there has had that fresh, homemade quality. Never that "frozen-to microwave-to table stuff here. The word fired oven gives the food a wonderful flavor. Subtle, not overpowering. I highly recommend them for a dinner date or family outing.

    Wow this place exceeded my expectations. This is definitely a hidden little gem in the Kingston area. We started off with the Strombollo Di mozzarella. Highly recommend that for an appetizer. We had the rusticana pasta dish and a brick oven pizza called puttenesca that was excellent. Give it a try!

    I'd driven by this place countless times, before a friend told me about them. They're a hidden gem. The smell of good food hits you when you walk in the door. The chef/owner cooks in front of you in his wood fired oven and communicates directly with his diners. He's a warm and personable guy that even let us peek inside. His falafel is amazing. No over exaggeration. The calamari was also very good. I kept looking around at the packed lunch crowd, wondering how I didn't know about this place. Stop in. You won't regret it.

    I mostly come here for the pizza. I consider myself a pizza expert. I think I've eaten a half million slices in my day. This little restaurant has the best wood-fired Margarita pizza in the Hudson Valley.

    It's the best and freshest you'll get here in this area.

    Thin crisp crust, good sauce and quality cheese... none of that "pizza cheese" crapola.

    They have it down. They know how to crank out good pies consistently and very fast.

    Great family friendly atmosphere as well. Very reasonably priced. I love eating here.

Italian, Mediterranian, world?; doesn't matter!! great flavors, great prices , and service that welcomes you from start to finish. Don't see something on the menu? Ask your server. Not sure what you want? Let them choose for you and enjoy the experience. Kingston is fortunate to have such a world-class, high quality restaurant. It is worth my drive from Albany every time!!

    When you walk in, the wood fired oven aroma lets you know you are in for a treat. The pizzas are so fabulous. The crust is so delicate and the toppings super fresh. The fish dishes are lovely and well presented.They have many daily specials and all I have tried are winners, but I have to say the pizza is my favorite. A hidden gem.

    OMG are you kidding me right now???? This is de-li-ci-ous!!!! This is actually my second time here and it's just as good. I had high expectations and they rose up and exceeded them. We had the stuffed shrimp- crazy good. Bolognese- like it would taste if I had an Italian grandma. Sformato- delicious!!! Ammar and Marwan are amazing people! I highly recommend this restaurant. I will continue to come here for pre-thanksgiving Italian.

    We've been going to La Florentina ever since it was called "La Parmesan" years ago. Primarily, we go for their outstanding Wood Fired Pizzas. The other standard Italian fare is what we would consider ....yeah....pretty standard.....Good.....not great. HOWEVER, The Wood Fired Pizza oven and the delicious ingredients combine to deliver a little Slice Of Heaven (pun intended) in their pizzas. In particular...The "Amatriciana" w/Fresh tomatoes, peas, red cabbage, onions and porcini mushroom sauce and The "Puttanesca" w/Tomato sauce, mozzarella, artichoke hearts, black olives, capers and pimentos. In all...14 Wood Fired Pizzas to choose from and every one deliciously special in its own way.

    My husband and I go to La Florentina for all of our special occasions. It's such a great atmosphere, and the food is always wonderful and fresh. The homemade piazza break comes out in a puff that you have to stab with a knife to get the air out of - really fun way to start out your meal. I like ordering it with the Fonduta, this creamy, cheesy, seafood dip that compliments the bread so well. However, the piazza bread alone is tasty. All of the pasta is homemade, and you can pay a little extra to upgrade to gnocchi or ravioli - both are yummy. The entrees are all incredibly fresh, and each has their own unique Italian flair. We have never had a single bad lunch or dinner. I can't comment on the pizza, but I hear that it is quite good. We also have never been able to try the dessert, as we're always too full at the end of the meal. However, I cannot say enough great things about La Florentina. It is by far our favorite restaurant for a celebration - and there are lots of great wine choices too.

    Truly is a hidden jewel in the Hudson Valley!! I have been coming here for over 15 years and the savory flavors have always been perfectly Italian. The portions are enormous and for such exquisite tastes the prices are more than affordable. Bless you and your staff!!

    Have gone here many times. Nothing beats the smell and feel of the wood-burning oven on a winter evening. Highly recommend the red cabbage calzone with mushroom sauces. Pizzas and calzones are great. Pasta/salads are ok, but nothing special.

    We went back, as promised. And this time, as promised, I paid more attention to the rest of the menu. This time I kind of wish we had a giant group, because there was so much I wanted to try! Next time I'm getting a pasta dish, damnit!

    I really might put this place on my last meal list. Prepare yourself, I'm gonna rave.

    We decided to skip the appetizers, they looked like standard issue apps and we decided we'd chance dessert instead. We ordered a chicken Dijon pizza and a calzone. The pizza was phenomenal. Big as a dinner plate, large pieces of perfectly cooked chicken, roasted peppers, fresh spinach, whole roasted garlic cloves...the crust was thin, crispy on the bottom but still soft and chewy, held up ALL THOSE TOPPINGS and was mighty delicious itself. The calzone had loose crumbles of (house made!) sausage, Genoa salami, roasted peppers and ricotta.

    Extra info here: I'm not a fan of ricotta or most sausage.

    DIVINITY ON A PLATE. Seriously, there was not a drop of grease in that calzone, the crust/shell was delicious and crispy, the sausage was delicious. And the sauce.....my husband actually said "do you want me to look away when you drink that?" Yeah, it was good. He got cheesecake for dessert, which I had a bite of though I don't care for cheesecake (I was trying to determine if it was frozen) and it was good, he raved about it! I had a cannoli, which was pretty good size, shell was crispy, filling was cinnamoned. The filling was a little gritty for my liking but still delicious.

    Really, I don't think we could love this place more. He had a beer and our bill before tip was $40. We NEVER eat out for $40! It was glorious.

    Hands down best, most authentic Italian pizza and pasta in the area. Excellent hand-tossed, wood-fired pizza with fresh toppings and real mozzerella. Fresh, doughy pasta. There is even hummus, which many people don't consider to be standard Italian fare, but La Florentina is true to its namesake!

    Florentina is the best of the best:) Nestled in a small strip along Ulster Ave in Kingston you would never know what you were missing... Our love began 15 years ago and has never ended. Meals cooked to order as stated on the menu or with any variation you choose. Sit and savour the extensive wines all night or pop in for the quickest made to order meal ever! This little gem of an eatery could stand to charge twice what they do for a meal. I cant remember how we discovered this little place but we love it. Beer and wine only, no liquor. Great for couples, families, parties:)

    I used to come here back when it was La Parmagiana 20 years ago. I've since moved away but whenever I'm back in town I come here. Everything is delicious and the service is always great. Love that calzone with the red cabbage and mushroom sauce. Yum.

    We usually come here for pizza which is always great. They have a decent gluten free crust. This time we decided to have an entree. I had the shrimp Liza Mari which was a little bit watery,but tasty because of the feta.I wish I had asked for a different type of pasta, but that was my fault for not asking. My husband had a special with Mahi Mahi with a spicy red sauce and grilled veggies. I thought that was also very good, though a little too spicy for me. The staff was very friendly and the service was fast. I think I'll try some of the other entree's next time.

    My favorite Italian food in the area. You cannot go wrong with anything on their menu. My favorites are the fonduta gambri and their carbonara. Service has always been spot on. My one complaint is the layout. Lots of tables close together and no booths. However, their pizzas are just too good. Go!

    I always order the Mauceri Wood-Fired Pizza (stuffed pizza filled with spinach and ricotta, its center topped with red cabbage; served with porcini mushroom sauce or sesame sauce) and all I can say is "wow!" It is amazing. I actually haven't tried too many other items on their menu, but I always liked whatever I did have. Personally, I prefer ordering pick-up rather than dining in this restaurant, but I haven't been there in awhile, so maybe I need to give it another try! I've only had good experiences with the staff and I think their prices are reasonable. Definitely recommend it!

    Actually as much as we appreciated the pizza we were happy to finish and leave because of the music. So clich! Oldies American songs with Italian opera cheesy accent. Please don't!!!!

    Second time here and deserving of a 5 star experience.

    We ordered the homemade pasta and mushroom sauce. Very well done. We also had a Spanish and shrimp dip before hand.

    Larger portions and super fast service. The mushroom pizza was awesome! The wood fired pizza is crazy good. The atmosphere is great for groups and fairly quiet despite the size. Our food came out literally 10 minutes after we ordered despite the restaurant being fairly full.

    I really enjoyed this Spinach Florentine Pizza. It was all fresh veg and fresh mozzarella, spinach, black cured olives, chunk tomatoes, fire roasted peppers, and large roasted shrimp. All this on a hand toss thin crust roasted in a wood stove.

    I enjoyed what I consider a homemade type of pizza cooked the old fashion way in a wood burning stone oven with all the freshest ingredients.

    I would go back here and eat again.
    I did like the quaint atmosphere and they do serve wine.

    Ok so I have been back for a few things now and am updating.
    The pizzas and puffy bread are amazing. The calzone was generous in fillings , how're the ricotta was more runny than I like. The taste was very good and the bread shell of calzone was like the puffy bread in yum factor. The hummus was very high in tahini and a little thinner than commercial brands. If you like tahini you will like the hummus.
    It does taste fresh.

    I came here with my family twice while I was living in Upstate NewYork and This place is Hands down, the best casual Italian joint The Hudson Valley! They use a wood burning stove oven for their Pizza and wow! It gives such a unique taste and texture! For starters the bread that they serve is delicious! the atmosphere wasn't overly loud and it wasn't crowded either. I have tried three other pizzas but my favorite is the three mushroom pizza.

    Three Mushroom Pizza. It has fresh basil, home made mozzarella cheese, white mushrooms, Balsamic Portabella mushrooms and a Porcini mushroom sauce.
    The menu has very unique items that you would not find anywhere else. The portions are large and thr service is super fast! If your in the Hudson valley area you must come here!!

    The "La Florentina" restaurant is a wonderful little establishment in Kingston that is sure to please. The atmosphere is reminiscent of a small Italian bistro, with painted portraits, grape and olive branches gracing the walls. Classic Italian music plays in the background while you wait for your order. There is a small wine by the glass selection as well as by the bottle. The menu selection is not very extensive, but is still plentiful enough to find something for everyone. There is a handful of mouthwatering appetizers and some choice garden salads and soups to choose from for starters. Then, find your way to the entrees for your meal. There is an array of pastas and sauce combinations to chose from (including gnocchi, which this reviewer had.) There is also a great selection of classic Italian brick fired pizzas.     I run an art gallery in Kingston and bring large parties to La Florentina regularly because it's great house-made food at a fair price, and there is something on the menu for all different diet preferences. They make delicious wood fired pizzas that are a far cry from a typical pizza parlor, great home made pasta dishes and soups, and fresh salads. The staff if extremely accommodating and friendly. It's clean, quiet and unpretentious and I suppose if you were absolutely miserable it might not be jazzy enough to lift you out of your doldrums, but that first review is way off - it's a very good place to have an Italian meal.

    I am a pizza lover from way back when and I make sure I go to La Florentina at least once a week. They have the most unique pizzas I have seen. The crust is crispy and the toppings are to die for. You can even have a vegan pizza and it's still delicious. The salads are great and dressings are delicious. Portions are substantial and the owners and staff are warm and always friendly. I recommend this restaurant with 5 stars!!

    Excellent. I'm picky. Like, send it back if it's not made right and tip according to service picky. I have been to La Florentina 3 times now and the food has been consistently amazing, the service impeccable, and the atmosphere quiet and intimate yet friendly. I'm going again tomorrow, and I can't wait!

    We love it and have been going there for years. It does not resemble regular pizza so don't go expecting that. We have our favorites and we usually get at least one of those each time. It's a place to go with your friends when they visit - our group loves it. Very good food, OK (and relatively cheap) wine. We almost never get a dinner although the eggplant is very good. Sit near the oven on those cold winter days.
